Printmaking

The City invites you to join us in celebrating work by talented youth artists (ages 12-20yrs) from our community and schools at the Youth Art Show. The show is in celebration of National Youth Week and National Youth Arts Week that takes place May 1st to May 7th each year. The exhibition will take place at the Kinsmen Youth Centre from Friday May 3rd to Sunday May 5th, and will be on display during the Youth Music Showcase that will take place Saturday May 4th.

Participate in National Youth Arts Week! NYAW is a project of the Arts Network for Children and Youth (ANCY) and is supported by Canadian Heritage and the Michaelle Jean Foundation. ANCY was established in 1999 by a group of arts practitioners with a vision of sustainable arts programming for children and youth in communities across Canada. Museum London’s Youth Council invites teens City-wide to join them for an afternoon of art workshops with local artists, a viewing of the artwork produced by the Council over the year, and a pizza party and movie night in our theatre! Whisper & Shout invites young artists to make their voices seen and heard through their art. What do you want to say? And how loud do you want to say it? This exhibition will bring together youth from around the corner and across the city to challenge, celebrate, reveal, surprise, disturb and comfort through the power of art-making. Visual arts of all kinds are welcome. There will be youth-led workshops throughout the day of the opening a celebration from 5pm to 7pm including music, food, and, of course, the art.

Walkerville high school exhibits a collection of works created by students from grade 9 to 12 for a total of one week at Art Speak Gallery in Windsor Ontario. The works range from painting, media, photography, printmaking, sculpture and installation. The week culminates with a closing reception on Friday May 2nd.

In this workshop we introduce participants to the art of block-printing, using soft linoleum blocks, cutting tools, block-printing inks and printing paper of various colors. Participants learn how to transfer their images from linoleum blocks to paper to create fun and creative images!
