Celebrate Youth Arts alongside a National audience of Youth artists, leaders, and adult allies

The Arts Network for Children and Youth, presents the National Youth Arts Week 2015. Young creative leaders across the country are busy planning creative events in communities across Canada for the fourth annual National Youth Arts Week. Join youth from across Canada and create events in your community. Register them on the calendar or tweet them out. Plan a launch on May 1st and let us know. You will be one of several communities across the country celebrating the first day of National Youth Arts Week.

“In 2014 over 1,000 events took place from Vancouver to Iqaluit to Huron Count, Ontario to Halifax! Over 25,000 youth planned, volunteered, implemented, hosted and performed. It brought youth together from across the country. A quote from Halifax: "The Spot's opening its doors even wider, to show off all the great things that a group of young people have been working on for the past four months. It's also a celebration of collaboration. And there couldn't be a better time for it than during National Youth Arts Week. "It connects what we are doing on a national level and generates excitement about youth culture, while connecting us with our own communities," says Maya Williams. "This will be something that takes us well beyond NYAW."

“Through our work we’ve seen that youth across Canada, whether they live in rural communities or in big cities, have so much creativity, and when given the opportunity will use that creativity to make positive change in their communities,” says Linda Albright, Executive Director of the Arts Network for Children and Youth (ANCY).

National Youth Arts Week is being coordinated by ANCY, a national arts service organization based in Toronto. It is being executed by creative young people and arts organizations who are helping hundreds of youth run arts-based community projects in their communities from May 1st through May 7th 2014. The goal of the week is to celebrate youth-led creative expression and community involvement.

Interested groups can visit www.youthartsweek.ca to register their youth arts events, get ideas for arts projects they can plan in their communities, and get connected to National events being planned for National Youth Arts Week.
